Geocaching Community Volunteer Reviewers hide in plain sight. Each time a reviewer presses the publish button a new geocache is available to find.

A geocache … what’s that? It’s something that someone – a geocacher – has hidden for you to find. Go to geocaching.com, create a login, and use your smartphone or GPS to navigate to it, then search. There are over 3 million geocaches around the world, some easy to find some very challenging, so there’s something for everyone.

This book is about the volunteer reviewers who look at new cache submissions to make sure they meet the guidelines for publication. More published caches means more caches for all of us to find.

Did you ever wonder how they became reviewers? Do you want to know why they continue to donate their time to the game when they could spend more time finding caches instead? Are you curious about your local reviewer’s story?
This book features stories from 131 current and former reviewers from six continents and thirty countries. It encompasses the history of geocaching, describing the first reviewers – who began in 2001, soon after geocaching started – and reviewers who started each year through 2024.

Marla London brings a wealth of caching and reviewing experience to this topic. She started caching in 2002, became a reviewer in 2006 and has attended reviewer gatherings around the world.

The Publish Button will answer some of your questions about the reviewers, make you laugh, and make you want to find or hide your next geocache.
